Today I was parked in a line of cars - all filled with parents waiting for children to emerge from the school. It was a bright sunny day, with cool, clear air floating through my window - a pleasant waiting experience! I heard a rumble and an engine. Turning to look I saw a fertilizer buggy sitting in the field across from the front door of the school.
A fertilizer buggy is an interesting rig. It's the size of a medium/large tractor, has three HUGE tires, and zips around the field spreading fertilizer. The farm bought one a few years back and I've been intrigued with them ever since. So this one just sits and idles in front of the school. Then it dawns on me - this farmer is picking up his kid from school! :)
When school lets out, the teacher says, "Hey, who's getting picked up in a spreader today?!" This darling little blond girl says, with a grin, "Me, that's my dad." The farmer climbs down from his rig, walks his daughter safely across the road, helps her up - and off they go, down Howell Prairie Rd.
Does it get any better than this?
