I've discovered that serious bloggers like The Pioneer Woman and Jen Henderson, (yes, I did just mention you two in the same sentence! You're welcome!) give the special people and things in their lives fancy blogging names. I've been contemplating this for some time now, because Jeff is very special to me, but I just call him plain "Jeff" and that doesn't seem quite right if I want to be a serious blogger and he is special to me. Even though I think he looks a bit Marlboroughesque I can't call him "Marlborough Man" because I don't want my kids to think smoking is o.k. and because The Pioneer Woman already used that name. He does share a first name with "Hot Jeff" of Henderson fame - but somehow I just can't get that to roll off my fingertips in reference to my special man. And again, it's already taken.
I thought about "farmerj" because that's what he calls himself online, but it's not very personal. Yes, he's a farmer and his name starts with j, but what does that have to do with me? I thought about calling him "Big Hunkin' Moose" - which is actually a pet name I have for him, with a long story attached, something about a motorcycle riding gear brand and a blue shirt I thought looked awesome on him. But that name is way too long to type every time I write about him, and besides that, it's a little to personal to spread publicly over the world wide web. Kara, who lived above me, occasionally referred to him as my "Hunk o' burning love" - but I will confess that I have never called him that myself. (just for the record, he has also never called me the name she suggested - Hotty tottie with the naughty body)
Anywhoo, back to the question of the hour - what is it I love about Jeff that can be communicated in one or two words? I love a lot about him, and he is a man of many skills, talents, interests and abilities. He's not just a farmer or just a prayer leader or just a dad - he's my amazing man and a moniker is no small decision. So, I was commenting on The Pioneer Woman's post today because she offered a free red kitchen aide mixer, I think I was the 13, 476th poster today. Talk about a popular lady!!! Anyway, she asked what the weekend plans were and I posted about maybe playing tennis with my farmer.
My Farmer.
I like the ring to that. Yes, he is more than a farmer - but it's a good word picture for the hard working, pure hearted, strong muscled man that I married.
Consider him named for the blog.
Ha ha! Love it! I don't have a special name for my man...oh no!
ReplyDeleteLove the Pioneer Woman's blog too, it has such a variety and she makes me laugh, she's just so down to earth and real. Plus she does have great giveaways. Did you see her post today that Sony bought the rights to her love story and it's also being published as a book? Can't wait.
Crack me up Jen!! I love it, "my farmer" sounds perfect! I have thought about a cute nick name for my hubs too. If I went with your same reasoning I would call Michael "My pharmacist" Hmmmmm? Not quite right. -Heidi
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely perfect. I love it!
ReplyDeleteLove it Jen - My Farmer, rocks...thanks for giving me and my little "sayings" a shout-out! Living above you and Jeff are some of the sweetest times I have had here in Salem!!!
ReplyDeleteLove, Kara
