the chase

Last night I was talking with a friend at the Willamette Valley Fruit Co. grand opening (yes, that's an unpaid advertisement for the local family business!) She asked about Abby, my 2 year old daughter, and as I looked around the busy yard, I couldn't find her. She had been with Grandma, Grammy, Pop Goes The Weasel, Doggy Daddy, Miss Bee and friends throughout the course of our 5 hours at the festivities, but as I located each person responsible, she was no where to be seen. With people everywhere, cars coming in and out of the parking lot, delivery trucks using the far driveway to haul in berries, a tractor coming and going with a hay ride, a band playing loudly in my ear, kids playing in bouncy houses, on pedal tractors, electric gators and a dunk tank - and did I mention people everywhere - I was quickly concerned. My mom saw me starting to look more intensely (we'll hesitate to call it frantic) and pointed out my girl. She was climbing in and out of a train of barrels. At any rate, she was found and I continued my conversation. My friend got a little misty eyed as she watched Abby play with head held high. We watched in awe for a moment as this precious girl ran around the front of the train. As my friend said, "She's a little miracle," I lost sight of her again, and decided it was time to be Mom instead of social butterfly. I made a quick exit, excusing myself from the conversation with the parting comment, "Sorry, I have to go chase my miracle."

And thus is named a blog I've long considered, but never pulled the trigger to start. Welcome to my meandering words - sometimes personal stories, sometimes spiritual thoughts, other times probably perfectly pointless. Whoever you are, I hope we enjoy the journey together.
