Since last spring Abby has been talking about Cubbies. Back then it was, "When I'm free I det to do to Tubbies an' wear a Tubby vest and yearn Bibo verss." (when I'm three I get to go to Cubbies and wear a Cubby vest and learn Bible verses.) Now that she's three she's in Cubbies, and my goodness, does she ever love it. Early this Fall we had a minor catastrophy. She was sick with a high fever and I told her she couldn't go to Cubbies. She cried and cried and cried until she finally said, "But mom, my deacher yaid I did a dood dob yast week so I det do do da vag." (My teacher said I did a good job last week so I get to do the flag.) She was devastated because it was her turn to hold the 3 inch flag for the class pledge of allegiance, and she had to miss it!!
Along with class comes a CD that has the Cubbies song on it - they sing it every week. And Abby listens to it several times a week on her CD. She has had it memorized for a couple months now - and I finally got it on video. Here she is, the cutest girl in world. (I've provided a translation of the song below for those of you who are a bit rusty on 3-year-old pronunciation!)
"Cubbies!! We are Awana Cubbies, we're happy all day long, we know that Jesus loves us that's why we sing this song. We hop because we're happy and we jump and shout for joy. For Jesus is a friend to us who loves each girl and boy."
My first (and maybe last) blog comment of the century, but I think I have THE MOST DARLING NIECE EVER!!! That was awesome Abby!
