Favorite Christmas Traditions

I have some very favorite Christmas traditions that we have stumbled on with our kids. We had a great weekend filled with fun, laughter, some tears and conflict, but mostly a lot of love. Now the boys are off to school, Abby is playing with Play Doh quietly upstairs. (I don't really want to imagine what the kitchen counter and floor will look like when I get back up there) and I am on the computer. It's a peaceful day!

Here are some pics - enjoy!

We cut our own tree at Palmer's tree farm every year. We tried to talk the kids into a $10 tree from the young life lot in West Salem, but they wouldn't have it. It had to be Palmer's, it's tradition!

Titus got to help cut it down for the first time.
We had so much fun putting up the decorations. The kids love finding and remembering their ornaments from each year. Christmas music, lights, happy kids. . . what more can you ask for?!

Another favorite is making gingerbread houses. This year, we made a house and a train. The pictures a little blurry - but you get the sense of it. Messy, lots of candy-eating, and fun results. A friend of ours got us started with Gingerbread houses about 5 years ago. She made us all the pieces and the icing, and bought tons of candy. We loved it so much that we buy a kit each year. I don't make it. . . maybe someday when I have time and desire to learn. For now, the $11.99 kit at Fred Meyer works fantastic!!
